Hi! I’m Alexis Allen-Shorter and I am the President of The Patient’s Advocate.  I’m a proud native of Prince George’s County, Maryland.

My mission is to help individuals and families navigate the sometimes difficult healthcare and aging journey.  I have more than 10 years of experience as a healthcare business development professional, working for major Fortune 500 companies, representing government municipalities, and assisting families, hand in hand, with support and insight while making tough medical decisions for loved ones.  No one should have to navigate the healthcare process alone!
It is sincerely my pleasure and passion to educate my community on maneuvering complicated diagnosis, understanding treatment options, selecting appropriate care settings, and understanding insurance benefits. Everyone deserves the same level of care and respect, and as an experienced patient care advocate, I am able to equip clients with the knowledge needed to make the most appropriate decisions regarding the care of loved ones’.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Gerontology from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and my Master’s Degrees in Business Administration and Healthcare Administration from Liberty University.   My career experiences include work as an Admissions & Marketing Director, and Hospital Liaison for Skilled Nursing, Home Health and Hospice agencies in the Metropolitan Washington & Baltimore markets. Most recently I was the Director of Business Development, Health & Life Science at the Prince George's Economic Development Corportation.
While I am very proud of the work I’ve done professionally, my biggest pride and joy is my family! My husband, George, and I are raising 5 sons, and seeing them grow into men means the world to us.   In my spare time, I enjoy coaching girls basketball and walks along the Potomac River.
